The symphony of science

The inventive animated story of producing a vaccine at mass scale, inspired by the symphony and the iconic musical composition “Peter and the Wolf Op. 67”

The NY times and Emergent came to Versus with the unique challenge to artfully and creatively show how a vaccine goes from a single solution to being mass produced.

We embraced this huge opportunity to do something that has never been before.

A groundbreaking approach to a medical explainer, that takes inspiration from the way symphonies are composed and single instruments contribute to a larger piece.

We imagined a visual world paralleling an original symphony score, where the journey of the vaccine is told through the use of instruments, poetic voiceover and dancing visuals. With such a complex subject being scored with an emotional tone, the team worked hard to keep the story human and approachable, to ensure that there was a connection between the viewer and the message.
